RS-232 connection works most of the time.
If you are having intermittent problems with either time code or VTR control there is most likely one of two reasons why they would be occurring. The first is a hardware problem and the second has to do with the nature of Windows programs.
Hardware issues: Intermittent problems of the hardware variety are seldom easy to track down but in this case revolve around 4 possibilities. The PC, the RS-232 adapter, the serial cable, or the VTR. Any thing that you can try in various combinations to eliminate any of these options will help you in finding the culprit. If you need assistance, please call our main number and talk with a technical support person.
Software issues: Many intermittent issues in software performance are not the fault of the software, but that of the operating system. Since, in a multi-tasking environment, the operating system must maintain all the parameters for all programs that are currently active, there is a good chance that some other program that is running on your PC could be effecting the performance of Log This®. While this should not happen very often, it can sometimes be the root of a problem that is hard to track down. We strongly recommend shutting down all other programs when using this program. Sometimes the answer to this type of problem may also be as simple as re-starting your computer. If the problems still persist please give us a call.
