Make Export Files
One of the best things about logging on a computer is the ability to create export files that can be used by computer based edit systems. This not only speeds up the flow of information, but also makes less work for your editor. Ebside Productions has worked with many of the largest edit equipment producers to develop export file capabilities that comply with each companies' file import standards. As a result, you can create files for Accom non-linear systems, Adobe Premier, AVID, edit* or D-Vision, and Media100. In addition you can create files in the CMX-340 and CMX-3600 formats which can be imported by most edit systems in use today.
To create an export file; open the log that you wish to use, click on the File menu option, move your cursor down to Make an export file, then choose the type of file you would like to create. You will then see a window, with options that vary depending on which type of file you chose to create, that looks like this.

Select the options you want then click the Make file now button. You will then be asked to enter a file name. Click on the OK button and your file will be created. If you want to look at the file or print it, select the Open export file option in the File menu.
If you are not sure of the options to select in the make export file window, contact the editor you will be working with and ask them what settings they would like to see in the export file.
*NOTE: Time Code type for export files is determined by the TC type in the TC window at the top of the page. If you are making an export file for PAL, Secam or 24fps film mode and you are not connected to a VTR sending that type of time code, you must select the TC type from the Time Code menu option, otherwise the file created will be NTSC. (This does not apply to CMX files which are always Drop frame or Non-Drop Frame.)
